GLOBAL MARCH FOR LIONS – Saturday 15 March 2014
March 13, 2014
This Saturday, 15 March 2014, many people around the world will be joining the Global March For Lions to raise awareness about the trophy and canned hunting of lions in South Africa. See – www.globalmarch4lions.org.
It is legal in South Africa to breed lions in captivity, hand rear them for use in the cub petting industry, then shoot them in an enclosure! I find it inconceivable that people can actually enjoy hunting animals.
You may want to sign the AVAAZ petition against South African lions being slaughtered for their bones and organs.
See here for the list of the many cities around the world participating in this Global March For Lions.
In Australia, you can march this Saturday in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. You can also find more information on Facebook for the Sydney event here and more general formation about the Global March here.
John Rendall has just returned from Kenya and will be speaking at the London march in Trafalgar Square.
I will be outside NSW Parliament House, Sydney at 11am this Saturday and marching with the Animal Works team, a conservation non-profit organisation.
Since Christian’s time, like many other animals, there are 70% fewer lions in Africa. We have to take urgent action, and I know many of you will be supporting the Global March For Lions.

TY for post. I have researched about canned hunting and I think it’s a barbaric, irreverent money making scheme that has no regard for the importance of this majestic animal.
TY again!!

On this link is a collection of 150+ pics, posters and information sheets for use on Saturday. I live in a small town and along with a friend will be going out armed with print outs of pics, posters and information sheets to hand to people on the street and in shops and cafes, etc. aiming to tell as many people as possible about canned hunting and what the lions are suffering, as there are far too many people who don’t know. With love and best wishes to everyone participating. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Phillip Adams is doing an interview now (Thursday night) on Radio National, presumably repeated at 4pm tomorrow, about the awful trade in shooting lions for ‘sport’, and has mentioned the rally.

Ace, thank you for this information and the links, making it easy for us to just click over to the proper page, sign the petition, and send our comments regarding these outrageous practices. Thank you for your love of animals that never quits, and for always continuing your fight to keep them safe. You and John are truly their voice, and you have the power to bring people’s attention to such matters, since the story of Christian went viral several years ago. Thanks for always fighting for GOOD in such a cruel world. You are both heros in the animal world.
Now…how will I ever get a photo of you, John, and Christian together, autographed by you two gents? 😉 I’ve been asking for this for four years, maybe five. Sell them and maybe put the money into the George Adamson fund, perhaps? Let me know. Cheers!

I just don’t understand how people can be so indifferent/cruel to feeling animals. Humans are “supposed” to be the more intelligent species. Looking at the state of our world and how people treat animals and other people I really do not believe that is the case.

My heart is with you all. Thank you Ace for letting everyone e know about the March.

Hi Ace, We think you and what you do are wonderful! A couple of us were trying to figure out where at “Kampi Ya Simba” the reunion happened. Could you mark where it happened on a picture or a sketch? On the recent post of a picture of “Christian’s Rock” you mentioned that is where it was, but it is driving us crazy trying to figure out the approximate area. Please help!!!! Thank you so much, Matthew
